Okay, so I just saw this news and I’m seriously buzzing! Apparently, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is already being touted as a Game of the Year 2025 contender. Seriously? We’re barely past January, and the awards for 2024 games haven’t even happened yet, and we’re already talking about 2025?! That’s wild!
For those of you who are, like, completely out of the loop as I was five minutes ago (I’m a bit of a casual gamer, okay?), Kingdom Come: Deliverance was this really cool medieval RPG from a Czech studio called Warhorse Studios. I’ve heard it’s known for its incredibly realistic depiction of medieval Bohemia – which sounds intense! I’ve seen some gameplay videos, and wow, it’s super detailed. Everything from the clothing to the weapons looks pretty darn accurate (apparently). The combat was supposedly quite challenging, too. I’m not going to lie, it looked pretty hardcore.
So, this sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, is obviously building on that success. The hype is real. The first game earned quite a fanbase, even if it did have some technical hiccups on release (I’ve heard that from others, not experienced it myself!). But if they’ve learned from their past experiences, then that’s really good news for the sequel. And I’ve also heard some say that the storytelling was pretty great in the first game. So imagine the second game with better graphics and gameplay! Amazing!
What exactly makes people think it’s already a GOTY contender so early in the game cycle? Well, I guess there’s a combination of factors. Firstly, the original game was well-received, scoring pretty highly on review aggregator sites. Secondly, the sheer ambition of the project is clearly a major factor here. These kinds of open-world RPGs take a massive amount of development time and effort, and the fact that it’s already being spoken about in terms of 2025 Game of the Year suggests that significant progress is already being made. The developers must be working super hard!
I mean, just imagine: more realistic graphics, an even bigger world to explore, probably a more refined combat system, and hopefully a compelling narrative. It’s got all the ingredients for a truly great game, doesn’t it? But, we don’t even have a release date yet, so all this is pure speculation, but this early buzz certainly hints at something big.
Of course, it’s way too early to actually crown it the GOTY, and lots of other amazing games will likely be released in 2025. There’s always a chance that the game could face development issues or just not live up to expectations. But even so, the fact that it’s generating this much hype so early on is pretty significant. It definitely warrants keeping an eye on! I’ll be sure to add this one to my watchlist. It seems like a game that may become a serious contender for the top spot.
I’m already picturing myself hacking and slashing my way through medieval Bohemia. I’ll have to look up some gameplay videos, just to be sure I’m not making things up! Or perhaps play the first one, see what the fuss is about!
